Techology overview

Fitting out a classic boat like Lively Lady was a challenge, but Raymarine were ready to help and their wide range of electronics made choosing the right system a simple task.

First to be fitted was the C70 multifunction navigation display. It is feature packed with a sunlight viewable display, but at just 6.5", it's a real space saver!

The ST60 wind, speed and depth instruments were an obvious choice with their proven track record and reliability. Raymarine's instruments are easy to operate and read so are great for training young adults on the new equipment.

The popular ST6001 control head for the inboard autopilot was fitted next, with an S3 corepack (the central intelligence hub for the autopilot) to ensure an accurate course on the gruelling circumnavigation.

The other essential for the crew was a VHF DSC radio and they chose the Ray54E. A fixed-mount radio, the 54e has an extra large display that shows a lot of information and a built-in speaker for excellent audio quality.

For peace of mind, each member of Lively Lady's crew will be equipped with a LifeTag transmitter. Raymarine's latest product, LifeTag is a personal wireless man overboard system. Using the very latest in radio frequency broadcast technology, LifeTag will monitor each crew member ensuring they are safe and sound onboard.

Finally, to complete the electronics package onboard Lively Lady is the recently updated RayTech Version 6, Raymarine's advanced PC navigation software will be used to plan waypoints and routes, check the tides and currents and even download local weather reports from around the world.

The crew will also have peace of mind with the backing of Raymarine's worldwide network of product trained Service Dealers and Distributors who will be on hand at each port to provide advice and run checks on all of the electronics equipment.

Essential communications are provided by Stratos, using their Fleet 33 "next generation", ocean-going, satellite communications system. This compact but powerful system allows the crew to keep in regular contact with the shore based team, the media, and friends & family. A high speed data connection allows internet access and email as well as voice calls.
