Nick Hilton

I have been working for the Meridian Trust Sailing Association as a Bosun and Skipper for the past five years. Like the Raymarine Lively Lady Project, the trust is an organisation which strives to help disadvantaged young people to realise their potential and improve their life prospects.

Along with my other duties, I am also responsible for maintaining the boats throughout the season, keeping them seaworthy and carrying out their winter refits.

I was fortunate enough to receive a 'Trinity House Bursary’ from Asto: enabling me to gain my Yacht master qualification and, with my cruising instructor’s certificate, I can also help to train the young adults to become competent crew members of this great round the world challenge on Lively Lady.

The last time I was in the South Pacific was on board the tall ship ‘Soren Larsen’ as an engineer, so I am now looking forward to revisiting the Antipodes on my leg of voyage
