Nathan Owen

22 year old Nathan is from Gosport and has
been enthusiastic about sailing for a long time
but has not often had the opportunities to gain any serious experience. In a bid to spend more time on the water he managed to gain work volunteering with the Sea Cadets where he
acted as mate onboard a 35’ Tradewind taking children on week long sailing trips.

It was during this time that he became aware of the Raymarine Lively Lady Project and realised that this would be an excellent opportunity to gain further experience.

He said,
“When we joined we were told that we were expected to raise money for the project through fundraising events. Something which I thought would be straight forward but that I soon found is very challenging indeed. It has been a real experience trying to raise money and a very steep learning curve. This part of the project has taught me some valuable lessons about the way the real world works which I am sure will stay with me for life.

I hope that the next part of my experience is equally as challenging and rewarding. I am looking forward to embarking on this journey and am sure it is going to be something that will again provide me with lessons, experience and memories for life, something that I feel is at the centre of the Raymarine Lively Lady Project.”
