Jason Rankin

Jason is 17 and lives in Paulsgrove. He attended Westfield Junior School and then went onto Portchester Community School. He got involved with the project through working at the Meridian Trust Association after leaving school last year and taking up an apprenticeship to become a boatbuilder and shipwright.

For him the most important part of the training has been learning how to work as a team and becoming a stronger communicator. On the fundraising front, he’s been busy selling raffle tickets as hard as he can, as well as helping out with the recent fund-raiser at the dog racing.

The sailing side has come more easily to him as he’s been a member of his local Sea Scouts for the last 4 years and has done some dinghy sailing with them as well as at his local sailing club in Portchester. So, it’s no surprise to hear that the thing he’s looking forward to most is getting out to sea!
