Alan Priddy, Skipper
Alan Priddy is first and foremost a sailor. In recent years he has become renowned for his record-breaking exploits in powerboats, covering some 200,000 miles at sea, achieving 30 port-to-port records, three transatlantic crossings and a world circumnavigation.
He started sailing long before that however, at the age of just eight. Since then he has sailed and raced in Fireballs, Finns, Shearwater Cats, Enterprises, Wayfarers and Toppers, has owned many yachts and is a veteran of many long distance offshore trips. In the process, he's logged almost as many miles under sail as he has under power.
Many of these trips have been done for the benefit of charities that help better the lives of others. Now, by following in the footsteps of his childhood role-model Sir Alec Rose, Alan is aiming to have a more immediate impact on the lives of more than 50 young adults who might otherwise never have the chance to show what they can achieve - giving them the opportunity to sail on Lively Lady on part of a round the world challenge.
On each leg of the trip Alan will be joined by a co-skipper and a crew of two young adults.
